  • 500g pork mince
  • 1 1/2 cups rice
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup corn
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 eshallots, finely chopped
  • 1kg bean sprouts
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce

Cooking Rice in the Microwave:

1. Here’s a fuss-free method for cooking rice in the microwave that results in light, fluffy grains. These cooking times work for up to 400g of rice.

2. Place rice in a microwave-safe container and cover with 2 layers of plastic wrap.

3. Line the microwave turntable with non-stick baking paper to catch any spills. Cook on High (800 watts/100%) for 5 minutes.

4. Cook, covered, on Medium (500 watts/50%) for a further 7 minutes. Set aside for 5 minutes to allow the rice to continue cooking. Use a fork to separate grains.

1. Cook the rice as per the instructions above (15 minutes in the microwave).

2. Brown the pork mince in a large fry pan over medium heat.

3. Add the cooked rice, peas, and corn to the pan with the browned pork mince. Mix well.

4. In a small dish, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce. Pour the mixture over the ingredients in the pan.

5. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

6. Add the bean sprouts to the pan and mix well.

7. Toss in the finely chopped eshallots and mix thoroughly.

8. In a small fry pan, fry the eggs to your liking. Chop the cooked eggs and add them to the pan with the other ingredients. Mix well.

9. Serve the fried rice hot and enjoy!

Freezing Cooked Rice: Cooked rice can be frozen and saved for another meal. For the best flavor, it’s recommended to eat the rice within 2 weeks of freezing. However, it is safe to eat for up to 12 months if stored properly.

TIP: Reheat frozen rice in the microwave without thawing first.
