Homemade Tomato Sauce Recipe

Tomato sauce in a small bowl on a table surrounded with garnishes.

Don’t like the idea of store bought Tomato Sauce? Full of things you can’t pronounce…try this homemade version using honey instead of refined sugar.

Ingredients

  • 10 ripe tomatoes, pureed
  • ¼ cup raw honey (or coconut nectar)
  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • ¼ cup filtered water
  • ¾ teaspoon Himalayan pink salt
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped

Method

1. Put all the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat; whisk until smooth. Reduce heat to low once it starts boiling and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring often. Remove from heat and let cool. Keep refrigerated in a container with a tight lid.

2. To puree the tomatoes: Rinse the tomatoes and place them in boiling water for 3 minutes until the skin starts to come off. Peel the tomatoes and puree them in a blender. Add a dash of Himalayan pink salt and adjust to taste.
