DAMON HALL FAMILY FARMS
Damon Hall is a third generation Farmer at farms on the pristine banks of Crystal Creek, Damon and his family grow zucchini, cucumbers, gold squash, paw paw, passionfruit, limes and hay. His farm is unique in that Damon and his family are involved in every part of the farming process from planting to packing and Damon delivers the fresh produce personally early mornings.
Tony and his brother Rodney run the farm in Mutarnee, where their family have been farming for 50 years.
There main crop over the year is pineapples which they send to markets all over Australia, in the cooler months they also grow Watermelon and Pumpkins.
Des Chapman started the farm in the 1990’s and now his son Evan helps with the running of the farm. Located on the Bruce Highway North of Gumlu, they are famous in the industry for their honeydew melon, but are also one of North Queensland’s biggest capsicum producers. They grow red, green and yellow varities.
ERRIE (BIG RED) RYLES
Big Errie has been growing and wholesaling in the Bowen region for over 40 years.
He knows all the farms in the area and only sources Lamberts with the freshest quality. He supplies beans, corn, tomatoes, eggplant and watermelon.
Going to Cau’s Farm in Oak Valley is like going back to his home land of Vietiam. He immigrated here in the 1980’s and grows all of the Choy family, snake beans, long eggplant, watercress and cherry tomatoes. This is just some of what he grows and his produce is that fresh that it is picked in the morning and can be for sale within hours.
Mackays Bananas are located in Tully. One in every ten bananas produced in Australia comes from Mackays. They are now third generation farmers, with their grandfather starting growing bananas in 1942. His two sons ran the farms, and now seven grandsons are also involved in the running of Mackays Bananas
